I grew up in the beautiful Piedmont area of Upstate South Carolina, where as a young boy with my Red Rifle BB gun (true story) and a machete I discovered a deep love from the outdoors. I’ve been blessed to have travelled across the United States and visit some of the most amazing parks and beautiful outdoor spaces that God created for us to enjoy.
As a young man Christ entered my life and walked with me through many adventures, many mistakes and many trials. He has always been there to forgive me, lift me up, dust me off and send me back out into the world. I spent 38 of my years on earth camping, mountain biking, day hiking and land surveying. Six of those years were serving in the Army National Guard as a field artillery sergeant where I taught map reading and land navigation. I absolutely loved it and once again I found myself outside, a lot!
Around 2007 a friend introduced me to backpacking on the AT. I fell in love, but that love had to wait a while as life demanded my attention. In 2020 my wife signed me up for a men’s hike with a local church. I was at a very low point in my life, but on this hike, the men, and the scriptures we studied over 4 days changed my life! After that first men’s hike I was asked to be a trail leader for the next season’s hike. I quickly accepted and that began a wonderful 4 years of men’s hike leadership where I got to see God move in the lives of so many men. I knew God had put me on the path that he had designed me for!
